A WILDLIFE centre has stopped all animal petting after an outbreak of cryptosporidium infection, thought to have been started by allowing children to help bottlefeed lambs at Easter.

Six children have been treated in hospital, and so far there are 13 confirmed cases of the infection and a further 11 suspected cases among visitors to the Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre, near Comrie, in Perthshire, since March 25.
