ATHLETICS Scottish competitors have entered the Britannic Asset Management women-only 10,000 metres in record numbers and quality, writes Doug Gillon. The Glasgow race a week on Sunday will be the biggest and best in its history.

Joyce Chepchumba, the former London Marathon winner, was announced yesterday, presenting a stiff challenge for the former world champion, Sonia O'Sullivan, and Lornah Kiplagat, who is attempting to win for the sixth successive time.
