A word of warning for the Premiership's latest Dutch recruit. Arjen Robben may think he has just landed the contract of his dreams, a five-year deal with Chelsea but there are those at Stamford Bridge who will disabuse him of the notion. As far as Joe Cole is concerned, his switch from the East End to the King's Road has been a nightmare.

Like Robben, the 20-year old PSV Eindhoven striker who signed a (pounds) 12m pre-contract agreement with Chelsea yesterday, Cole joined Roman Abramovich's revolution in a similar, positive frame of mind. Jumping clear of West Ham's sinking ship, Cole, 22, believed Chelsea offered him the perfect opportunity to fast-track his career, both at club and international level. But just seven months on, Cole is not so sure.
