Summary
What is worrying about the issue of the coming necessary changes in health service provision in Scotland is that there is no ongoing debate, unlike the intense arguments over the future of the NHS in England. In the Scottish Government there seems to be little activity other than bombast over legal and constitutional issues, neither of which currently has any immediate bearing on the lives of most Scots.
At a time when the financial crisis in the NHS in Scotland (NHSiS) may lead to sudden and permanent loss of services we hear nothing from the Government over its plans, if any exist. Following the overtly populist and precipitate rejection of the Kerr Report recommendations after the 2007 election the realities of the resource constraints on the service have been ignored, as have been necessary evidence- based changes.See the full content of this document
